In our number 3 spot, we have an Ashwaganda supplement from the company Solstice Supplements. One thing that we liked right away was that this company sells more than one product. This lends credibility to supplement manufacturers and is something which consumers should look out for when purchasing any nootropic. We were also happy to report that organic Ashwagandha was used in this product as this is definitely not true of most Ashwagandha supplements.
Where this product fails is in the amount of Ashwagandha which is contained in the capsules – only 600 mg. Additionally, there are no ingredients included in order to speed up the effects of the Ashwagandha. In fact, the extra ingredients it does contain may actually be harmful! One final nail in the coffin is a return policy of only 30 days. As our top two products both offer a 60 day return policy, we were unable to give Solstice Ashwagandha a higher rating than our number 3 spot.
In order to ascertain if Solstice Ashwagandha will deliver an effective serving of this miraculous plant, we first took a look at what type of Ashwagandha was used in the formulation of this product. Our two main criteria being that it is made with organic Ashwagandha and that it is from the root of the plant. We were extremely pleased to note that this supplement does contain both of these! Because of the high quality of Ashwagandha used, we were looking forward to seeing a high amount of it in each capsule. Alas, this was not to be. The amount of Ashwagandha is only 600 mg which is less than half of our number one choice.
Even more concerning is that fact that there are additives included in this formula. If anything additional ingredients are included in an Ashwagandha formula, they should be natural compounds which are used to increase absorption of the main ingredient. Unfortunately, this is not the case here. The included ingredients are actually fillers which can sometimes be found in these types of capsules. In a day and age where companies are steering away from including such ingredients, we were not at all pleased to see the inclusion of these fillers here.
Another way of assessing the efficacy of any product is to see what real users are saying. Disappointingly, there are no reviews anywhere on the manufacturer’s website or anywhere online. This could mean that customers are not blown away by the results enough to write a positive review or they are not disappointed enough to write a negative one. Alternatively, this could also mean that there is a scarcity of customers taking this supplement.
We sat down and analyzed the additives used in Solstice Ashwagandha to report about the safety of this product. The problem with additives and fillers is the quantity which is being consumed. A small amount of Vegetable Stearate, for example, will probably not cause harm to anyone. However, studies show that a larger amount should be avoided. What does this mean for you? It depends on your lifestyle, the foods you consume and the supplements you take. Read labels and be informed about what you are putting in your body to ensure that all the small amount of fillers and binders don’t add up to a rather large sum. This is especially relevant because people may be tempted to consume more capsules of Solstice Ashwagandha in order to reach a higher amount of Ashwagandha. It is important to keep in mind that taking more than the recommended daily dose per day could potentially pose some health risks.
Our final say is that these capsules would need to be a little higher in potency as well as get rid of all the added unnecessary ingredients in order to obtain a higher spot on this list. We do like that organic Ashwagandha, from the root of the plant, is used. We were also glad to see a return policy on this product. However, it is only for 30 days, instead of 60 days, like that of our top 2 products. This, coupled with a complete lack of customer reviews, left us with no choice other than to place this product in our number 3 spot.
